School Based Feeding Program
The 120 days cover period of School Based Feeding Program has been a success in improving the nutritional status of wasted and severely wasted pupils of Imus Pilot Elementary School. With the combined effort of the SBFP Coordinator, BMI Coordinator, GPP Coordinator, teachers, parents and the community, this worthy endeavor has been meaningful to complete the standards it implies. With the planning of the Technical Working Group, orientation of parents and barangay officials, and combined efforts of teachers and stakeholders let to the effectiveness and success of the School-Based Feeding Program. In the conduct of the School-Based Feeding Program, students identified as Wasted and Severely Wasted were given nutritious food based on the monthly 20-day menu. To ensure that these pupils receive proper nutrition, feeding forms are checked regularly. In the case of class suspensions, double-feeding are administered to make up for the missed feeding days. The menu was also designed to address concerns on religious beliefs. Non-pork eaters are given a separate menu. Within 6 months of establishing best nutrition from July 2018 to December 2018, it is concluded that only 23 pupils from severely wasted to wasted status are only subject for extended feeding by the school from the canteen funds as its devotion to completely eradicate the below normal nutritional status.

Nutrition Education Nutrition Education one of the programs under GARNESSUP PLUS committed to disseminate knowledge and understanding about proper nutrition to live a healthy life among the pupils and as well as parents and people in the community. Nutrition Education program conducted different activities such as Vegetable Salad Making Contest during the 2018 Nutrition Month Celebration with a theme “Ugaliing Magtanim Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin” and Burger/ Sandwich Making and Beverages Contest among the Grade III students. The contest was conducted to promote among pupils the value of eating nutritious food like vegetables and fruits. Exhibit and Food Tasting was held at Y.C James Yen Center Hall at IIRR Silang Cavite. Imus Pilot Elementary School as one of the participating schools; served two indigenous recipes: The Canum Cupcakes (Camote- Talinum) and Camote Tops Juice with Calamansi to promote the use of indigenous vegetables and crops from the school garden tend to promote the nutritional value of the food among the pupils. Recipe information and procedure in the form of poster and brochure are distributed during the event. Nutrition Education Program implemented different activities not only to inculcate the values of planting vegetables among the students but also to promote among the pupils the importance of eating nutritious indigenous vegetables.

Gulayan sa Paaralan To produce’ vegetables rich in sources of protein, vitamins and minerals, and eventually increase vegetable consumption and improve learners’ nutrition.
Garden Nutrition Education School Feeding Program Body Mass Index (BMI) Gardening in schools is a necessity. Through the combined efforts of the school principal, Dr. Jocelyn A. Limosinero, teaching and non-teaching personnel, parents and students, Imus Pilot Elementary School cultivated the school’s “Gulayan sa Paaralan” to promote gardening and agricultural concepts and skills to students and the community. Under the responsibility of the teacher in charge Mr. Lee C. Marquez, Gulayan sa Paaralan coordinator, the garden work with the help of a garden team, the Young Farmers club composed of grade 6 students the school cooperates in daily gardening chores like watering, seed propagation and harvesting. The garden also aims for an organic farming. It can serves environment and natural resources, re-establishing ecological balance, encouraging sustainable agriculture, improving soil fertility by putting an end to chemical pollution and toxic residue. The garden also supports the school feeding program by producing the needs of the students under the program keeping them healthy and strong. The Gulayan sa Paaralan in coordination with the School-Based Feeding Program aims for zero malnourishment and to encourage every family in the community to plant vegetables in their houses so that there is always food in their plate to serve their families. |
Project B.I.N.H.I Imus Pilot Elementary School created a program entitled B.I.N.H.I: Biodiversity Implementation of Natural Habitation of Indigenous-plants. Project BINHI linked and compacted the separate goals of Department of Education: addressing malnutrion and promoting eco-friendly learning environment for all learners. The program consists of three parts: First part is to establish knowledge of school community (teachers, students, parents and stakeholders) in terms of biodiversity implementation of natural habitation of indigenous plants; second part is to form the positive attitude of school community in terms of roles and responsibilities in addressing malnutrition with the use of sustainable and eco-friendly vegetable garden; and third part is strengthening skills in reducing environmental impact and innovative green ideas.
At the present, Project BINHI is not just a school-based program but it also presented to the other school. There is a seed exchange program that seeds or seedling brought from nearby school to be swapped. The Gulayaan sa Paaralan coordinators join the seed swap to exchange seeds, listen to the conferences or just to exchange information. Students and parents are also involved in the program by planting the seeds into school gardens or their own home. |
Eko-operatiba Implementation of the National Ecosavers Program which aims to teach waste segregation to children in schools. The school take part in establishing an ecological solid waste recovery system by encouraging students to bring recyclable materials which is convertible to cash that can be deposited in their bank account. School partners with City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) together with General Parent- Teacher Association (GPTA) in the whole mechanism of the program happening every Friday beside PAGCOR Building.
